Happy 14th Birthday to My Most Trusted Travel Buddy - Aro!

Yesterday was Aro, my Jack Russell terrier's 14th birthday so I was reflecting on all of the adventures he has done with me since I started writing children's books about the national parks. I ran my first Rainshadow Running 50K on the coast of Oregon with two running friends, Michelle and Mo. It was one of the craziest running adventures of my life with wind and rain almost the entire way, but I was proud of myself to have completed my first. A few weeks later I signed up for my second 50K and it was at the Antelope Island 50K in November of 2015 where I came up with the idea to write a children's book about Utah's Mighty Five. I started writing in early 2016 and had hired an artist who happened to be Michelle's daughter. Just four months after running my first two 50ks, I had registered for the Antelope Canyon 55K and that was the first driving adventure where Aro accompanied me after I started writing Buzzy and the Red Rock Canyons.  This post celebrates Aro and our travels to research and sell our books together. In just a week we are off to Washington state to begin research on book #10.
